The Haus of Threes Story

Safety should not be a privilege, or a home a contingency. Haus of Threes is a queer collaborative; a safe space built for and by our community to heal, nurture, and protect each other. A place to dream, to create opportunities, and a family to tell one another, “We got this!” A community we know will see us when others may not, when the world does not.

In 2017, Po Couto launched the Haus of Threes pop-up in the Greater Boston area as an incubator for queer artists and entrepreneurs. In 2021, Po Couto and an incredible community of volunteers/donors made it possible to open the doors to a Haus of Threes physical space in Boston that is home to artists, wellness professionals, therapists, businesses, nonprofits, and more. Our first priority is to create space for queer, BIPOC, transgender, and non-binary people who continue to be most marginalized within LGBTQ+ spaces and society.

Haus of Threes is building a space which builds on the legacy of generations of creative Boston LGBTQIA+ activists who have carved out space for our community in their kitchens, restaurants, bars, and libraries. We are relying on mutual support, time, and effort to bring this dream to reality.

We value resilience, integrity, and transparency - as we define it together. Haus of Threes is about defying gatekeeping and opening up opportunities for all of us.
